Sadie will turn 10 on September 18. Tony and I have talked about doing something super special for the kids on their 10th birthdays, so we decided that my mom and I would take Sadie to California. The trip would have two parts - going to San Diego (Escondido) to visit my Aunt Jeanie and cousin Kellen, and going to LA to the American Girl Store. We booked the trip months ago and thought about keeping it a secret until the day we left. But as the trip got closer, it became more and more stressful for me to keep the secret. There were events we were going to miss that I would have had to lie to Sadie about and also I didn't feel good about the boys not knowing I was going to be gone. Long story short, my mom called Sadie on Monday, August 9 and told her about the first part. Then Tony and I revealed the rest. She was sooo excited! Here is a video of me telling her. Oh, and let me just add that after she got off the phone with my mom she ran upstairs and grabbed her American Girl catalog and looked to see where the closest one was. This is before we said a WORD about going to the store or LA!
