Birthday Party #2

Sadie's friend birthday party was at the barn where she has her horse riding lessons. Sadie invited 6 friends and most of them hadn't ridden a horse before, so that was fun. Each girl got to ride twice, once on Cinnamon the pony and once on Kaelyn, the horse! In between rides they made a horse picture frame, ate hot dogs, and played horse BINGO! I think that everyone had a good time, I know Sadie did!

Okay, Sadie, your birthday is officially done!!! (Birthdays seem to last so long around here!)

Birthday Party #1

Okay, maybe it sounds excessive to do two birthday parties. But we have a rather large family with most of them from out of town, so we have realized it is better to split up the family and the kids. The parties are always pretty much the same ole, same ole - food (lots of yummy food is best), then open presents, then eat lots of yummy desserts! So that is just what we did on Sunday to celebrate Sadie's birthday! (We also were kind of celebrating Grandma Jacque, Uncle Nik and Tony's birthdays too!)
The three grandmas - Marie, Jacque and Betsey
(Sadie was born on Jacque's birthday, so they are special birthday twins!)

Auntie Chrissie and the newest member of the family, Uncle Aaron! (They were married 8-8-08!)

Mmm, spinach dip!

Pretty much the cutest volleyball I have ever seen!

We got Sadie her first American Girls doll for her birthday. Auntie Chrissie knew this, so she got her a Chinese outfit for the doll that is very similar to the one Chrissie wore at her wedding reception! Really neat.

Sadie wanted chocolate trifle instead of cake. Smart girl!

Uncle Nik with his girlfriend, Nicole, and Drew!

Uncle Derek with his girlfriend, Rachel, and the Birthday Girl!

All in all, another fun party filled with friends and family. We so appreciate everyone making the trek to our house to celebrate these events in our kids' lives. It means the WORLD to all of us! We love you!

A Visit from Papa and Grandma

My parents, Tom and Betsey, live in Federal Way, WA (between Seattle and Tacoma), so whenever we have a birthday or special happening, they come and stay for the weekend. Last weekend was Sadie's family birthday party, so they were able to come and hang out. We went to Red Robin for dinner, they got to watch Sadie's soccer game, we went to Saturday Market (Hillsboro's), and they were here for Sadie's party on Sunday. We don't see them all that often, so it was fun to spend time with them. Thanks for coming, Mom and Dad!

Happy 8th Birthday Sadie!

Eight years ago today on September 18, 2000 at 5:10am, Sadie Jean Bastinelli came into the world. She weighed 6 pounds, 15.8 ounces and had tons of dark hair. She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. And she is now an eight year old girl, still beautiful on the inside and out. Sadie is energetic, kind, funny, spunky, loving and very social. She is the best big sister to Zack and Drew that I could ever have asked for, and she loves her mom and dad fiercely. Sadie loves to play sports, especially softball and soccer, ride horses, play with her dolls and Barbies, ride her bike, sing songs and do arts and crafts. She has a knack for noticing very small details about people (how they are dressed, hair, jewelry, mannerisms) and it will be fun to see how this unique trait is used later in her life. She loves to talk about Jesus and is sad that she goes to a school where God cannot be mentioned. Tony and I are so proud of the young lady she is becoming and we continue to pray that God uses her for His plan through her entire life. We love you Sadie!

Here is a special sneak peek at the last 8 years of Sadie's life.

My Soccer Class

As the youngest child in our family, poor Drew has never done an activity. He has always been dragged to Sadie and Zack's things, but such is the life of the third child! So I finally signed him up for a soccer class for 1 1/2 - 3 year olds at an indoor soccer place close to Zack's school on a day when he is in school. My friend Jeni signed up her son Cohen as well. I told Drew about this soccer class last week and he has asked incessantly "When I go my soccer class with Cohen?" Yesterday was his first class and he had a blast! They ran around a lot, kicking balls, playing with balloons, and chasing the coach and other kids. Drew seems to have a knack for sports, so he was in heaven! He had a ton of fun and is already talking about "My soccer class next week"!

Cohen and Drew taking a breather!

"I - was - run-ning!" (Insert Forrest Gump voice)

Soccer players MUST know how to do a somersault!

Goal!

Maybe a strange activity, but the favorite by far!

Seaside, Oregon

So we live seriously an hour from the beach. Cannon Beach, Seaside, both super close. But did we make it there this summer? No! Why? I have no idea!!! So we decided we had to go, even if school is in and it is supposed to be Fall! We skipped church (I know, bad!) and Sunday morning headed off to Seaside. The weather was GORGEOUS, hot on land and hot on the beach but with a chilly breeze that was quite pleasant! We didn't know that there was a car show in Seaside last weekend until we got there and were surprised at how many people were there! But it was cool, the main drag was closed off and there were hundreds of pimped out old cars to see!
Look at my yummy octopus!

You can't miss the choo choo!

Yes, Zack is plugging his ears! :)
