The end of an era has come. PGE Park, which has been the home of the Portland Beavers AAA baseball team since 1956, is being renovated into a soccer stadium. The decision to do so has rendered the Beavers homeless, so they will be leaving Portland in search of a new home. I cannot tell you how incredibly sad this makes me and my family. We have thoroughly enjoyed many a Beaver game together and had hoped for many more. But alas, their very last game came on Labor Day (9/6/10). Of course, we had to go to the game to say goodbye to our beloved team.

One last picture out front

The first 2,000 fans got these neat commemorative coins. Zack loves his and I am sure will keep it forever. ;)

The fam

After some not-so-great weather the past week, the clouds lifted and this was a gloriously beautiful day. Just perfect for baseball.

The Beavers' last time running onto the field as they were announced. And the Las Vegas 51's.

Look at all the fans. Every single one of them loving this team. Why on Earth did PDX let them go? Okay, don't get me started...

Before the game they brought out various men who had been coaches/players/affiliates of the Beavers in the last 60+ years. It was really neat.

Play ball!!

One minute...

And the next...

Can you see all the fans lined up on the street watching?

This time, hilarious overrules inappropriate!! :D

The Final Score... Beavers WIN!!!

Bye guys. I would guess that most people had at least one tear by this point.

Then they started digging up home plate for the "Friends of Baseball" Foundation to hold until baseball returns to Portland.

More tears.

Good-bye Lucky, we will MISS you!!
