Swirl

My dear friend from SPU, Jody, lives in SE Portland. I don't see her super often, but the kids and I have taken the trek to her home a few times. When we go we like to walk down to Hawthorne and check out all the little shops and get ice cream at Ben & Jerry's. The kids and I went again recently, and first we ate lunch at a place called Hopworks Brewery. It was really yummy! Then we went back to Jody's house where we played Pass the Pigs and let our lunch settle. Then we took the 4 or 5 block jaunt down to Hawthorne St. Our destination? Swirl. Oh man, it was soooo good, and I have been craving frozen yogurt ever since! It is self-serve, so you can choose any or all of their 8 or 10 flavors and then add a gazillion toppings. AMAZING. Thanks for such a fun outing, Jody!!!
Drew chose raspberry and chocolate yogurt with strawberries, sprinkles and M & M's

Sadie had raspberry and chocolate yogurt with strawberries, chocolate syrup and not sure what else

Zack had peanut butter and chocolate yogurt with M & M's, chocolate syrup and chocolate chips

I know Jody had lemon yogurt, and I had coconut and raspberry yogurt with sprinkles and marshmallow cream. Oh heavenly!!

A New Auntie

Last Saturday, July 10, Tony's brother Derek married a wonderful girl named Rachel. We had the pleasure of attending their wedding, and Tony was one of the groomsmen. They were married at a beautiful park in Eugene, Oregon.

Waiting for the ceremony to start

So, this takes a little explaining. Tony's grandma, Nanni, is getting a little slow in the memory and unstable in the walk. But when that music started she made sure Tony's cousins got her out to the dance floor and she TORE IT UP!! I seriously think she had the time of her life. :)

Yes, Drew enjoyed the cupcakes, thank you very much

Too bad my dress clashed... ;)

Alyssa, Casey and Nik. Not sure what was going on, but Casey will be joining the family next month when he and Alyssa get married!!

Sadie and Grandma Jacque, the beautiful mother of the groom

Don't even say it...

The sweet couple

Yup, you guessed it, the garter toss!

Sadie was NOT happy that she didn't catch the bouquet. Dang tall girls...

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. We wish Derek and Rachel years and years of happiness and love.

Cannon Beach and Astoria!

We decided to take an impromptu trip to Cannon Beach on one of Tony's days off. The weather was perfect and we had a great time! While we were there we took a run up to Astoria, where our friends Jason and Rebekah and their 4 kids recently moved. I had never been there and it was amazingly beautiful!

Astoria
After eating dinner, getting a tour of Jason and Rebekah's house and lots of trampoline jumping, they took us on a little trip around town. First we went to the waterfront to see the sea lions. There was one all by his lonesome, but I guess there are usually way more.

Then we of course had to see the Goonies house! My kids LOVE that movie. Yes, I know there is bad language and a few other not quite kid-appropriate parts. But it's a classic and they love it...

There she is!

The view from the Goonies house. Wow.

We had such a fun day. Thanks to the Linnetts for letting us pop on over with pizzas and no warning! :)

4th of July!!

It has somehow become a tradition for us to host a big 4th of July BBQ at our house. This year was the 3rd annual gathering and it was a great time! Lots of friends and food and the kids entertained themselves until it was firework time!

Sadie singing some karaoke - she is a natural for sure! ;)

Tony and I joined in a bit too...

Then it finally got dark enough for fireworks, so we got out the sparklers.
