Drew's Family Party

The Saturday after Drew's birthday was his family party.  It is always fun to have all of our families come and gather together to celebrate our kids!
Drew was happy about the present table filling up. ;)

Birthday Fun

On Drew's birthday, he went to school and then I took him to lunch at Nice Rice (his favorite place for chicken and rice!).  Tony met us there, so that was fun.  That evening, Tony's K-9 team got a special service award, so the kids and I went to the ceremony to cheer him on.

After that, we met up with the Kingsbury Family at John's Incredible Pizza!  Drew and James were born the same day at the same hospital!  They are really good buddies, and they both wanted to just be with each other for their birthdays!  We ate some dinner, played games and had a blast!

The little brother, Caden

Then it was time to play!  The kids had a blast!  (I think the dads did, too!)

The day after, trying out his new roller blades and Star Wars gun at the same time! :)

My Baby Is 6?!?!?!

I can't believe that it was 6 years ago that tiny little Drew Anthony joined our family! 6 just seems so... BIG! This is a kid number - not a toddler, not a preschooler, but a kid who will start losing teeth and getting his 6 year molars and will next be in first grade. *sigh* Where has time gone?

Well since it is here and there is no denying that Drew is now 6 years old, I will choose to celebrate who he is and enjoy him as a big kid. Drew is an awesome kid. He is funny (hilarious, actually), but not on purpose, as evidenced when he gets mad when we laugh. He thinks we are making fun of him. (I think that's the youngest child coming out). Drew is a very social kid, the more people around him, the better. He absolutely loves family time and he loves school as well. He has become a bit of a ladies' man in his old age - he currently claims two Kindergarten girlfriends and one sixth grade girlfriend (kind of a long, sweet story). He is very tender toward his mom, he will comment on my hair or ask me how I am or even rub my shoulders if he thinks I need it. Drew also loves animals. Cats, dogs, hamsters, you name it, he loves them all.

Drew is energetic and loves sports. He is quite coordinated and rides a bike like a champ and is learning to skateboard. Oh and don't tell him, but Tony and I got him roller blades for his birthday, so we will see how that goes! He also loves to play soccer, football and baseball. We are gearing up for the baseball season and we are super excited to see him in action. He loves to be outside with Tony, playing catch or practicing batting.

Drew really loves his big brother, Zack. He does everything Zack does and refuses to go to bed without him (they share a room). He and Sadie tend to butt heads at times, but the rest of the time play well together, especially when all three are playing Harry Potter.

Drew has immensely blessed our lives, as he brings a whole other dynamic of energy and fun.

Happy 6th Birthday, Drew! We love you!
