We have never as a family gone anywhere exciting (or anywhere not exciting, for that matter) for Spring Break. This year we decided to change that, so we rented a house in
Sunriver, OR. Sunriver is amazing. It is a resort village in Central Oregon that sits on the Sunriver right as it branches off of the Deschutes. Tony and I have been a few times each, but we have never been as a family. I found a really great house to rent and when the time came, we were off on our adventure!

I love Central Oregon. It has a high desert geography and climate. (Sunriver has an elevation of 4100 ft.) Look at these hills!

First stop in Sunriver was Goody's Soda Fountain and Candy Store for a little ice cream snack.

Then it was off to check out the house I had found to rent. It is a super cute house, just perfect for us. Nice and cozy and very cabin-ny. We will definitely stay there again the next time we go to Sunriver. We are thinking every year would be awesome, especially in the summer, since summers there are super warm!
After checking out our house, we drove North about 20 minutes to Bend, where we had reservations at the
Pine Tavern for dinner. Tony and I love this place, it has a pine tree growing in the middle of the restaurant!

Oh, and their sourdough scones with honey butter? To die for!

Then it was back to Sunriver for a little family game night. We played Pictionary for the first time, and Sadie and Zack loved it!

The next day, we decided to explore Sunriver a bit. It is seriously huge, with lots of little roads and loops and hundreds of vacation cabins/homes. It was bitterly cold, though, with temperatures around 30 degrees.

The kids weren't deterred by the cold enough to not play at the park, though. It even started snowing while we were there!

Can you see the snow flakes?

We then found our way to the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory. We took a nature walk around the nature center and learned some fun things about Central Oregon wildlife and land.

Later that day, we went back to Bend and met up with our friends, Becky and Troy Stauffer and their kids Ian and Chloe. Becky and Troy lived across the street from us 6 or 7 years ago and we became good friends. They moved away 3 days after Drew was born and we have kept in touch with them since then. They now live in Bend and we were so excited to see them and spend some time together! We had a really great time and can't wait to see them again.
